Are there any requirements to be able to claim?
You need to have served in the Armed Forces for at least 2 years at any time since May, 1987.
How much is my military hearing claim worth?
Military injury claims can vary greatly in regards to the severity of the injury and how it has impacted on their life. As an example: If your hearing has been compromised, you may be able to apply for a claim that includes financial compensation for pain and suffering, costs associated with medical equipment such as hearing aids, travel costs related to medical appointments, and potential loss of income due to an inability to work.
will claiming impact my career?
No. The MOD understands that they ask service personnel to do a difficult job in dangerous situations – and unfortunately accidents do happen. They recognise and respect the individual’s right to bring a legal claim for injuries. Claiming won’t affect your entitlement to a pension, either. The Ministry of Defence should not discriminate against personnel who bring compensation claims after an injury. If you’re planning on continuing your service career after your claim, then there are very strict rules about discriminating against someone on this basis.
